The Governor of the Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha, said that 27,000 cars will be assembled at the region's three automobile plants by the end of the year. The politician reported on the state of affairs in the industry to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during the forum "Development of Small Regions and Historical Settlements".
We will produce 27,000 cars by the end of the year, and next year 121,000 cars will be assembled at our facilities.
The politician explained that production had been restarted at the AMO plant in the region. It assembles Ural trucks. Previously, the industrial site belonged to Volvo.
Shapsha also mentioned that passenger cars are being assembled at the former Volkswagen plant, which is now owned by AGR, in cooperation with a Chinese partner. Finally, Avtomobilnye Tekhnologii produces cars from 1,800 parts.
Journalist Maxim Kadakov noted that all three enterprises will assemble equipment from China. Avtomobilnye Tekhnologii assembles the Citroen C5 Aircross from assembly kits brought from China.
According to the journalist, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is being assembled using the SKD method at the AGR plant in Kaluga. Kadakov emphasizes that the restyled Tiggo 7 Pro Max, for which a vehicle type approval has already been obtained, will soon be produced there. It cannot be ruled out that the fourth version of the Tiggo Pro will also be assembled, and in the future, the Omoda C5 may start rolling off the assembly line. Finally, the management of the AMO plant plans to assemble Chinese trucks.
