Russian Railways (RZD) has implemented a technology for exporting containers from the Zabaikalsk – Manzhouli border crossing, the company's press service reported.
For the first time, a test train with containers loaded into gondola cars departed from the Zabaikalsk railway station. This method has been successfully used for exporting goods from the Far East.
The peculiarity of the technology is the use of gondola cars, which previously returned empty after unloading coal and ore. Now, the cars can be loaded with containers and sent inland. This approach increases the efficiency of infrastructure use in the eastern direction.
The company's initiative aims to optimize the transportation process and rationalize the use of rolling stock. This is important in the context of the congestion of eastern transport routes. The new initiative is expected to reduce costs and speed up the delivery of goods across the country.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that container transportation in Russia increased by 8.8%.
