The South Ural State University (SUSU) has created an alloy of five metals for future use in aviation and mechanical engineering, the university's press service reported.

The alloy consists of nickel, chromium, niobium, manganese, and iron.

An alloy with this composition is proposed for the first time and, according to scientists, promises to be optimal in terms of price, hardness, and wear resistance.

Nickel and iron make up most of the new material's composition. Chromium accounts for another 15% (providing anti-corrosion properties), manganese accounts for 10%, and niobium accounts for the rest.

We simulated several alloy options. The best characteristics were shown by the composition where iron and nickel account for 65%, and niobium - 10%. Products made from it can be used in aviation, mechanical engineering, as they are resistant to aggressive environments and high temperatures.

The development will allow the creation of new equipment with high resistance to extreme temperatures. At the same time, its cost will not increase.
