Creator of "GAZelle" Resigns from Gorky Automobile Plant

Coincidentally, the model celebrated its 30th anniversary this year

Honored Designer of Russia, creator of the "GAZelle" and laureate of the Russian State Prize, Vladimir Chetverikov, has resigned from the Gorky Automobile Plant. His retirement coincided with a jubilee date — this year, the series of trucks celebrated 30 years.

At that time, we were told: you are crazy if you believe that it is worth making a car for transporting one and a half tons when there is a truck that carries five tons.

According to him, officials believed that the use of light-duty trucks would require more vehicles.

The first production "GAZelle" rolled off the GAZ assembly line on July 20, 1994. Since then, the "GAZelle" family has been supplemented by many models, including "Sobol", "Sobol Barguzin", GAZ-3221 and many others.
