Ministry of Agriculture to Test UAVs for Hop Plantation Treatment in 2025

The events will take place in Chuvashia

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia plans to conduct tests of unmanned aerial vehicles for hop processing in Chuvashia in 2025.

According to Roman Nekrasov, Director of the Department of Crop Production, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the department, next year it is planned to demonstrate the operation of a drone on hop plantations located on trellises. The main focus of testing is the use of UAVs for processing hop gardens with plant protection products.

Nekrasov noted that the shortage of personnel in the agricultural sector makes the accuracy of processing and the verified trajectory of the UAV especially important. He added that the drone will be purchased and provided for testing if requested by the region. The Vice-Premier of Chuvashia and Head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, Sergei Artamonov, said that a corresponding application will be sent to the federal ministry.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is actively involved in scientific and industrial experiments on the use of unmanned aircraft systems in various types of agricultural work. This year, for example, locust outbreaks were treated with drones in the Orenburg region, and UAVs were used to sow rice in the Krasnodar Territory.
