Visited the construction site of Kursk NPP-2. The project is being implemented on schedule. The launch of the reactor under construction is scheduled for December. This will be an important stage in the development of the nuclear industry.

Smirnov also noted that at the Kursk NPP, "the situation at the facility is stable, all processes are proceeding as normal," and "the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard are taking all measures to ensure the safety of the station."

Kursk NPP-2

A replacement station for the power units of the existing Kursk NPP that are being decommissioned. The Kursk NPP-2 project includes four power units with Russian VVER-TOI reactor installations (water-water power reactor, typical optimized, and computerized) are being constructed according to the VVER-TOI project and meet IAEA safety requirements.

The capacity of each of the four power units will be 1200 MW. The first power unit is scheduled to be launched in December 2024. The nuclear fuel for it has already been delivered in June.
