The adoption of the Chukavin sniper rifle (SVCh) is expected soon. It is already being supplied to the troops, according to Alan Lushnikov, President of the Kalashnikov Group.
According to him, the adoption into service is a strict, regulated procedure by the customer. Lushnikov emphasized that Kalashnikov, for its part, has already prepared and submitted everything necessary.
We expect it fairly soon. It's just a strictly formalized procedure that the customer performs. It is being mass-produced, we have a state contract. We successfully completed it last year, we are completing it this year, and the customer is planning for next year. The rifle has been realized and is in the troops.
The SVCh is a semi-automatic sniper rifle chambered for 7.62x54 mm, compatible with magazines from the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), which it is intended to replace, and inherits its reliability.
The new rifle surpasses its predecessor in terms of shooting accuracy by 25-30%. Without a magazine, the SVCh weighs 4.8 kg, the overall length with a flash suppressor and unfolded stock is 1,170 mm, and the barrel length is 620 mm.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian Armed Forces have begun using a new type of missile to engage the enemy. They fly significantly further and are twice as accurate thanks to a built-in motor.
