The volume of container transportation increased by 8.8% from January to July of this year. This includes imports, exports, and transit. In total, 4 million 558 thousand loaded and empty TEU containers were transported via the Russian Railways network. This was reported by the company's press service.
A significant increase was noted in the shipment of fertilizers (increased by 1.9 times), processed products (by 2.6 times), and construction cargo (+34.2%).
The largest volumes were recorded in container transportation of:
- Forest cargo — 346.4 thousand TEU.
- Soda and chemicals — 472.9 thousand TEU.
- Mineral and chemical fertilizers — 286 thousand TEU.
- Cars and components — 279.5 thousand TEU.
- Metal products — 255 thousand TEU.
- Industrial goods — 243.6 thousand TEU .
In July of this year, 666.9 thousand TEU were transported in all types of traffic, which is 7.9% more compared to the same period in 2023.
