The New York Times newspaper has discovered an address in Hong Kong where at least four companies are registered, which are engaged in the supply of sanctioned electronics to Russia.
The firms are registered at 135 Bonham Strand, near the financial district. According to a study by American journalists, they belong to businessmen who are associated with the Russian military-industrial complex.
According to the NYT, these firms have acquired millions of chips, the supply of which is restricted due to anti-Russian sanctions, for Russian military companies.
Journalists believe that this is an indication that neither the American government nor chip manufacturers can control where their technological goods go.
According to the publication, in 2022, chips worth a total of about four billion dollars were delivered to Russia. It is reported that Russia has established an alternative supply chain, and in the last quarter of 2023, it received almost the same amount of critical chips as in the same period of 2021.
