Russian military personnel on the front lines are building comfortable roads for movement using the BAT-2 engineering tracklayer. This is a bulldozer on an artillery tractor, whose main task is to lay tracks in the combat zone.
The basic machine of the tracklayer is the multipurpose heavy transporter-tractor MT-T, on which the main working equipment is installed. The kit includes a universal bulldozer, ripper, winch, and crane equipment. The vehicle has no weapons or armor.
The BAT-2 tracklayer began to be developed in the 1970s, and in 1988 the model went into mass production.
The BAT-2 is equipped with crane equipment. The crane boom can rotate 360° and has a lifting capacity of two tons. The BAT-2 can lower loads into pits up to 3.5 meters deep or lift them to a height of up to 7.5 meters.
The maximum boom reach is 7.36 m. A winch with a pulling force of 25 tons is installed in the front of the machine. The cable length is 100 meters. The winch design is borrowed from the AT-T tractor.
