Technical problems have been detected in the operation of Google Global Cache equipment. It is designed to speed up the loading and storage of information from Google services.
Due to problems with the operation of this equipment and the impossibility of its expansion in the face of growing traffic, there is a serious overload of existing capacity, including at peering points. This may affect the loading speed and quality of video playback on YouTube for subscribers of all Russian operators.
According to Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, after the introduction of sanctions, Google abandoned its CDN servers in Russia. The slowdown in the speed of video hosting was a consequence of these problems, and not a decision of Roskomnadzor.
Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov also noted that the Russian government had no plans to block Youtube.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Moscow court fined the Russian "daughter" of Google 10 billion rubles.
