Russian military personnel have changed their tactics for using reconnaissance drones on the front lines, now launching them without GPS. The navigation system is activated when the UAV is directly over the target, which is then struck by Iskander missiles. This is reported by the Eurasian Times.
This method makes it more difficult for the enemy to detect UAVs and counter them, as Russian drones are difficult to track until they are in position to perform reconnaissance or strike missions.
The Eurasian Times writes that Russian military personnel use about 50 reconnaissance drones daily, including Orlan and Geran. UAVs conduct continuous reconnaissance.
