Rosatom State Corporation and the Uzbekistan Atomic Energy Agency signed an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant

The Uzbekistan Atomic Energy Agency (Uzatom) and the Russian State Corporation (Rosatom) signed a protocol on the entry into force of the contract for the construction of a small-capacity nuclear power plant (NPP). The facility will be located in the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The signing ceremony took place at the site of the future nuclear power plant. It was attended by the head of "Uzatom" Azim Akhmedkhadjaev and the first deputy general director of Rosatom State Corporation Andrey Petrov.

According to him, Russia will begin construction of the nuclear power plant this summer. The project involves the construction of a 330 MW facility (6 reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each).

Rosatom State Corporation is the general contractor, and Uzbek companies will also be involved in the construction. The site for the nuclear power plant has already been investigated, and experts have confirmed its suitability and safety.
