Head of the Ministry of Energy of Burkina Faso signed a memorandum of understanding with Rosatom

A group of Rosatom specialists will travel to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, in the coming days to explore the possibilities for building a nuclear power plant. They will select a site and calculate the capacity of the future nuclear power plant, according to Yakuba Zabré Gouba, the head of the African country's Ministry of Energy.

Previously, at the SPIEF-2024, Yakuba Zabré Gouba signed a memorandum of understanding with the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev.

We have agreed with the Russian side that a group of technical specialists can come to Ouagadougou in the coming days to clarify the details.

In the spring of 2024, at the ATOMEXPO-2024 forum, representatives of Burkina Faso signed a roadmap for the development of bilateral cooperation with Russia. The countries will work on issues related to the implementation of nuclear generation projects and the use of radiation technologies in various fields.

In 2023, Rosatom offered African countries a number of technological sovereignty projects, including the construction of nuclear power plants of various capacities. Expanding its influence in the region, the corporation is building the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt.
