The Russian company GLONASS will present a new communication channel for UAVs. This was announced by the General Director of GLONASS, Alexey Raikevich, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
According to Raikevich, the problem of lack of communication exists in 70% of Russia's territory. It can be eliminated with the help of a low-orbit satellite constellation operating in real time, but it is not yet possible to implement such a project.
But we already have a ready-made solution for a satellite channel through Russian geostationary satellites.
With the help of the new development, drones will be able to perform tasks in areas without cellular communication. The project will be demonstrated in July this year as part of the Archipelago educational intensive.
The speech was supplemented by Dmitry Peskov, Director of the ANO NTI Platform. He stressed that the development of drones is a matter of political sovereignty of the state.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia tested a mobile semi-automatic communication complex for UAS.
