Ruselectronics Finds a Way to Make Communication for Russian Pilots More Reliable

The technology works at a distance of up to 6,000 kilometers

Ruselectronics holding of the Rostec State Corporation has developed a technology to improve the reliability and noise immunity of shortwave radio communications in the air, which operates at a distance of up to 6000 km. The solution copes with the tasks even under conditions of indirect visibility.

Polet NPP, a subsidiary of Ruselectronics, which manufactures aircraft communication equipment for military and civilian needs, has invented a method of diversity signal reception. With this method, radio waves are separated by frequency, orthogonal signals and majority decoding are used. Simply put, communication is simultaneously organized at several frequencies, and information is compressed without compromising its reliability.

The new technology provides for the transmission of radio waves through a multipath channel, their reception by antenna elements spaced in space, and subsequent summation of the received signals. The system can be used to improve the reliability and noise immunity of dual-use HF radio links.

The equipment of Polet NPP has already been successfully tested for organizing communication with aircraft located at very large distances from the control center. This development won the I.P. Kulibin Prize of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2024 in the nomination "Best Invention of the Year in the Field of Electronics, Information and Communication Systems and Communications".
