Shipbuilders at the Baltic Shipyard have begun mooring tests of the "Yakutia" nuclear icebreaker (Project 22220 "Arktika") with two RITM-200 integrated water-cooled nuclear reactors. This was reported by the USC press service.
The USC explained that the mooring tests will take place at the shipyard's outfitting embankment. Shipbuilders will check the operability of all systems and mechanisms of the vessel, the quality of installation of ship equipment. They will also configure the equipment.

According to him, within the framework of the Project 22220 "Arktika", the shipbuilders handed over the "Sibir" and "Ural" icebreakers to the customer. The vessels have already entered the routes of the Northern Sea Route.
The USC press service added that after checking the operation of nuclear reactors with a thermal capacity of 175 MW each, the "Yakutia" icebreaker will be ready for sea trials.
