Lipetsk plant started restoring tracked vehicles for SAM systems

Repaired equipment undergoes testing before being sent to the customer

Lipetsk Mechanical Plant (LMZ, part of the Kalashnikov concern) handed over a tracked vehicle (GSh) for an anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) to the customer after repairs. The equipment passed mandatory tests, which confirmed its basic characteristics, the Rostec press service reported.

GSh is designed to accommodate, transport and provide power to the equipment of the SAM combat vehicle.

Features of GSh:

  • speed — up to 65 km/h 
  • range — 500 km
  • high maneuverability
  • climbs elevations at an angle of 35°
  • the body is made of special steel

According to Veniamin Sizov, Executive Director of LMZ, the restoration of tracked vehicles has become a new area of ​​the company's production activities. The plant's employees took into account all the nuances in order to return equipment to military personnel on the move in a short time, he concluded.

LMZ produces self-propelled tracked chassis for the S-300VM and S-300V4 SAM systems. It was also planned to launch the repair of the SAM systems themselves here.
