The re-equipment of the port in Astrakhan is scheduled to be completed in the coming days. By the end of 2024, Rosmorport will transfer all VTS (vessel traffic management systems) of Russian ports to domestic software.
This was announced by Sergei Simonov, Deputy General Director of FSUE Rosmorport, on the sidelines of the Russia International Exhibition and Forum. He also mentioned the relevant presidential decree, which envisages a rapid transition to domestic software.
There is Presidential Decree No. 166, which requires all critical information infrastructure facilities to be transferred to domestic software by the end of this year. Therefore, we are now conducting a competitive procedure to replace imported software with domestic software. The results will be summed up, according to our estimates, sometime in mid-May - the winner will be announced, and he will immediately begin to implement this project. We are here on the deadline set by the president. Therefore, all 25 VTSs [will be equipped], already 22 [left] because Sochi, Makhachkala and, I hope, Astrakhan in the coming days, they were transferred to domestic programs.
It was additionally noted that domestic equipment is "significantly cheaper compared to foreign equipment, and also has a wider functionality."
The use of Russian software will make it possible to improve the safety of navigation.
