New Russian tracked unmanned robots "Courier," designed for military purposes, have been selected for field tests. Footage of the tests has appeared online.
According to the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", the robots have a universal configuration. In addition to replacing a regular soldier with a 12.7-mm NSVT "Utyos" machine gun or a 30-mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, the tracked "Couriers" are capable of operating with disposable flamethrowers and grenade launchers, serving as minelayers and mini-electronic warfare systems. Anti-tank guided missiles are also mounted on the robots, which can crush M1A1SA Abrams, Leopard 2, T-64BV, and other popular foreign tank models.
The characteristics of the "Courier" are quite simple:
- length — 1400 mm, width — 1200 mm, height — 580 mm;
- weight — 250 kg;
- maximum speed — up to 35 km/h;
- operating time — from 12 to 72 hours;
- operator control range — up to 10 km.
Tracked robots for military and dual purposes have been actively developed and implemented in Russia recently. Among the latest developments, one can note, for example, the tracked rescue robot from "Alter" and the modernized robotic platform SEM-350 — Veteran for transporting the wounded from the front lines to the rear, transporting cargo, and laying mines.
There is also an interesting solution in development, such as the robotic platform "Yozhik-MLRS". The mini-robot receives a mini-multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) and will be able to fire cumulative fragmentation projectiles weighing 0.6 kilograms each.
