New application of the Typhoon-VDV armored vehicle: Rostec will create a complex to combat UAVs on its base

Russian specialists are developing several options for expanding air defense capabilities. It is planned to create a complex to combat UAVs on the base of the Typhoon-VDV armored vehicle, said Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the Rostec complex of conventional weapons and ammunition.

The use of 57-mm or 30-mm artillery shrapnel rounds with controlled remote detonation based on the Derivation Air Defense and Typhoon-VDV complexes is being considered

Technical characteristics of the Typhoon-VDV armored vehicle:

  • Increased anti-mine protection (withstands the detonation of a bomb under the wheels up to 6 kg in TNT equivalent)
  • Wheel formula 4 by 4
  • Diesel engine, power not less than 258 hp
  • 6P7K machine gun, caliber 7.62 mm
  • Possibility of landing with parachutes
