Face Pay in St. Petersburg: "face payment" technology will be implemented in the subway

New turnstiles will appear at three central stations of the subway

Payment by biometrics (Face Pay) will be implemented in the St. Petersburg metro in test mode in the second quarter of 2024. Passengers will be able to pay with their "face" at the "Nevsky Prospekt", "Gostiny Dvor", and "Ploshchad Vosstaniya" stations.

The press service of the subway explained that the pilot project will be launched at central stations with high passenger traffic. Currently, the State Unitary Enterprise "St. Petersburg Metro" is preparing technical specifications and estimates for the modernization of existing turnstiles. Later, the authorities will announce a tender for the implementation of biometric technology in the control device.

Payment by biometrics will speed up passenger flow and will also be more convenient for passengers who do not want to carry a travel document with them
