AvtoVAZ has registered eight trademarks. All of them are registered in the category of "Passenger cars", as well as in other classes of international classification, and may become names for new cars of the domestic plant.
VAZ employees have patented the names Astera, Azimut, Altra, Merida, Retiva, Gravis, Tarusa and XTour. Six names end in the letter "a", like the current AvtoVAZ lineup — Granta, Niva, Vesta, as well as Aura, which is currently available only to officials, and Iskra — its premiere is promised during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
The obtained patents for names do not at all mean that the auto giant will necessarily produce models under that name. In 2020, AvtoVAZ registered 12 names: Forta, Tensa, Kayna, Onega, Lika, Slava, Alta, Mira, Avira, Sfera, as well as Aura and Iskra. Of these, only two trademarks became names for cars. Note that neither four years ago nor now have VAZ employees shared plans to use the remaining trademarks for naming new developments.
Earlier ww1.ru wrote about how the Gorky Automobile Plant registered the Volga trademark. It can be used for a new GAZ car. It is known that the plant is working on a project to revive the Volga with an unnamed partner.
