The crews of the corvettes "Gromkiy" and "Sovershennyy" (project 20380 "Steregushchiy") of the Pacific Fleet of Russia, built by shipbuilders of the Amur Shipbuilding Plant, conducted training artillery firing in the Sea of Japan.
The firing was conducted from the A-190 universal artillery system of the ship type at targets simulating an enemy warship. In addition, sailors from the standard ship's machine guns destroyed floating mines of a mock enemy.
Ships of Project 20380 "Steregushchiy" are multi-purpose corvettes of the second rank, armed with guided missiles of the near and far sea zone.
They are designed for:
- Conducting combat with surface ships submarines of the enemy
- Providing artillery support for a naval landing during their landing
- Patrolling the water area
Four corvettes of this type were transferred to the Pacific Fleet. As of December 2023, 10 ships of Project 20380 "Steregushchiy" have been built.
The "USA — Japan — South Korea" triangle is trying to increase its influence in the Pacific region
In recent years, the United States has been actively cooperating with Japan and South Korea along the defense line, and their alliance is called the "Asian NATO". The military personnel of the three countries have repeatedly conducted joint naval, air, and missile exercises.
One of the latest maneuvers took place on January 17, 2024, in the waters of the East China Sea. The US Navy aircraft carrier strike group took part in them, including the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the missile cruiser USS Princeton, and the destroyers USS Kidd and USS Sterett. Japan sent the destroyers JS Hyuga and JS Kongo to the exercises, and South Korea — the destroyers ROKS Sejong the Great and ROKS Wang Geon. American, South Korean and Japanese sailors practiced actions to defeat air targets and anti-submarine warfare.
