UKVZ, a subsidiary of Roscosmos State Corporation, is developing a new family of three-section low-floor trams that will be named after the stars of our galaxy. The first of these is named Castor, after a star in the constellation Gemini, and is already ready for operation in cities.
According to the manufacturers, the futuristic car model 71-639 "Castor" is the most spacious of domestic analogues. This low-floor three-section six-axle four-door tram car has 65 seats: 64 regular seats plus 1 seat for passengers with limited mobility.
At the same time, "Castor" is the shortest car in its class: it has a length of just over 25 meters. The maximum speed of the car can be up to 90 kilometers per hour.
Among the features of "Castor" are also:
- ergonomic handrails, comfortable seats and their layout;
- backlighting in the dark of the door opening buttons and passenger compartment and external contour lighting;
- smooth running and the ability to operate without reconstruction of landing platforms due to the length of the car;
- connectors for charging gadgets;
- the possibility of operation on routes where there are turning radii of 14 meters;
- individual design of tram cars with the possibility of branding for urban purposes.
At the same time, the manufacturers made its price 20% lower than the market price, so that it would be more accessible to different cities. The three-section "Castor" costs up to 155 million rubles in the basic configuration.
