Surpasses foreign counterparts: the "Alexander Obukhov" minesweeper neutralized all mines

Tests of the lead minesweeper of the "Alexandrite" project took place

The "Alexander Obukhov" minesweeper, built at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (part of the USC), neutralized mines planted by a mock enemy as part of a course task, the corporation's press service reported.

A course task is considered to be the execution by a single ship at sea of tasks within its technical characteristics. This checks the readiness of the crew and the ship itself, as well as the ability to conduct combat in various situations.

The "Alexander Obukhov" is the lead minesweeper of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" - developed by the "Almaz" Design Bureau. Currently, the Russian Navy includes 8 ships of this type. They are part of the Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific Fleets.

12700 is the third generation of naval minesweepers. They have high maneuverability, and thanks to the hull made of monolithic fiberglass, their magnetic field is significantly reduced. The USC emphasizes that the ships of the "Alexandrite" project surpass foreign counterparts.

Earlier, the St. Petersburg enterprise held a ceremony to lay down a new minesweeper, named after Hero of the USSR Semyon Agafonov.
