Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea. It took place off the coast of Alaska. The Western magazine Millitary Watch called the modified version of the Tu-95 a "deadly version".
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Tu-95MS was accompanied by Su-30SM fighters. The duration of the group flight exceeded 7 hours.
Pilots of the Russian Long-Range Aviation regularly conduct flights in the Arctic, Atlantic, over the Black and Baltic Seas. All flights are carried out in accordance with international rules, the defense ministry added.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Tu-95MS is designed to engage targets in remote geographical areas and in the deep rear of the enemy using nuclear missile weapons.
The aircraft is equipped with 4 NK-12MP turboprop engines. The flight range with a normal combat load is up to 10.5 thousand km, with a full combat load - up to 6 thousand km. The maximum weight of the combat load is 20 thousand kg. Strike weapons: Kh-15 cruise missiles located in the bomb bay, naval mines.
