В ТГУ по заданию Минпромторга разработают технологию получения арсенида галлия

The substance is necessary for the production of X-ray color image detectors

Scientists from TSU and the company "Finpromatom" will develop a Russian technology for producing photosensitive gallium arsenide, which is necessary for the serial production of X-ray color image detectors. Investments in the project will amount to 430 million rubles.

The corresponding task was set for specialists by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. Gallium arsenide serves as the basis for X-ray images, which are used in industry, medicine, and science. Prior to this, Russia purchased the substance in other countries.

Gallium arsenide has unique properties that ensure high-quality color imaging. Two years have been allocated for the creation of the technology.

It is specified that "Finpromatom" will supply the necessary raw materials and equipment. And TSU will be engaged in direct technological and design work. This is not the first project of the university in this direction. In 2023, scientists manufactured a prototype X-ray detector with sensors based on gallium arsenide.

Earlier, TSU developed a special coating for implants, which improves its engraftment to the bone.

Earlier, www1.ru wrote about the discovery of scientists from Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. They achieved a breakthrough in the field of developing materials for X-ray machines. Researchers have identified four new compounds of manganese with bromine and compact organic residues, which have high efficiency in converting X-ray radiation into visible light.
