In the early months of 2024, major Russian car dealers will have a difficult time - warehouses have accumulated the maximum volume of cars in the last two years. There are many popular Chinese Chery, Exeed and Haval, and there are enough Russian cars.
According to Nikolai Ivanov, Sales Director of Rolf, the largest Russian car dealer, his company's warehouse has 4,520 new cars. In early 2022, there were 4,266, and in 2023 - 4,339. Other market participants, such as Avtodom Group and BN-Motors, have also confirmed the maximum number of new car stocks since February 2022.
But for Avilon, car stocks in warehouses are not a cause for concern. They do not cause significant visible damage to themselves or importers. However, representatives of this dealer note that despite the abundance of colors, brands and configurations, there is still a shortage of some models in various market segments.
Expert opinion on the situation in the Russian car market as a whole is that in 2024 the market volume will grow to 1.2-1.4 million cars. This will be facilitated to varying degrees by the growth of imports of passenger cars from China, the resumption of a number of large car factories, a possible decrease in the key rate and the stability of exchange rates.
Some cars against this background will become more affordable - due to localization in Russia, some - obviously, will try to dump, following the example of some Chery models in the last quarter of 2023.
