Izhevsk Mechanical Plant to invest over 170 million rubles in production development

IMZ also produces civilian equipment - medical, automotive and other

The largest Russian manufacturer of combat, pneumatic, service pistols and self-defense weapons, Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (part of the Kalashnikov concern), will invest over 170 million rubles in modernizing the tool division. These funds will be used to purchase and install new equipment in the workshop for the manufacture of molds, dies, auxiliary equipment and gauges.

The acquisition, delivery, installation, assembly, and commissioning of seven new facilities for the plant are planned to be almost fully completed by December 31, 2024
Three machines, including a 5-axis grinding and sharpening machine and two milling machining centers, have been installed in the workshop, and their installation and commissioning are underway. By the end of 2024, two electrical discharge machines and a milling machining center will be put into operation, and in early 2025, a thread grinding machine will be launched. The launch of the new equipment will allow IMZ to independently manufacture volumetric molds and dies, regrind tools, make and repair threaded gauges, as well as carry out electrical discharge machining of parts.

The equipment upgrade for this division of the concern is very relevant. In 2023, the tool production division of Kalashnikov increased the total output of products by 28% compared to 2022. At the same time, the workload per worker in the division increased by 26%.
