The promising Russian heavy-class Angara rocket will receive reusable returnable stages, according to Nikolai Nesterchuk, head of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities (TsENKI).
According to him, Russia has not abandoned the idea of launching reusable rockets into space. To some extent, the Angara and Amur-SPG launch vehicles will be reusable.
This idea was also confirmed at the Khrunichev Center, where the Angara is assembled. At that time, engineers were considering the possibility of creating a rocket with reusable first and second stage boosters.
The launch of Angara is scheduled for 2024, and the rocket will launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region. Previously, the Angara-A5 was delivered there, which is subject to flight design tests before being sent into space.
In December, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket was launched from Baikonur, putting the Arktika-M satellite into Earth orbit.
