The extra-strong machine can handle steel and reinforced concrete structures of any configuration

Rosatom has created unique equipment for dismantling industrial facilities - a diamond wire saw. This is the first such equipment in Russia; previously, foreign analogues were used for such needs.

It was developed for import substitution as part of the R&D of the TVEL fuel company of the state corporation

TVEL is engaged in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities of ordinary and high complexity. For example, such as the Lepse floating technical base, which for many years stored spent nuclear fuel from the time of the first nuclear icebreakers.

The extra-strong saw is now undergoing resource testing; it was developed in just six months, in a short time. Among the special properties of the domestic tool, one can single out automatic electronic safety systems and programmable electronics with extended functionality for the operator.

Electric drives and a pneumatic tensioning system provide greater saw performance compared to hydraulic machines. It can cut steel and reinforced concrete structures of large area and any configuration.

A reinforced concrete slab with metal pipes inside was sawn in just 10 minutes during testing

Now, the saw prototypes are waiting for testing on radiation-contaminated equipment, seasonal testing in winter, and then mass production.

It is assumed that different modifications of the saw will be designed and manufactured for the customer's tasks, and equipped with special accessories and modules.
