The Russian "Automobile Motor Company" (AMO, part of the "Industrial Investments" group - editor's note www1.ru) will begin production of trucks at the former Volvo plant in Kaluga in the coming days.
This was announced by the Governor of the Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha, following a meeting with the General Director of "Industrial Investments," Andrei Alexandrov, and the Executive Director of AMO, Roman Petryaev.
According to him, the final preparations are underway before the launch of production. This is a crucial event for the Kaluga Region, Shapsha emphasized.
"Industrial Investments" closed the deal to purchase the Volvo plant at the end of November. At the same time, 650 Volvo employees retained their jobs.
Temporary assembly of a large-sized, high- проходимости truck has already begun at the enterprise. Apparently, we are talking about three-axle Ural Next trucks.
Volvo, following other major foreign brands, has left the Russian market. Owners of Swedish brand cars from Russia have been denied access to the company's services, including the Volvo Cars application. Russian drivers will also be refused assistance even if they come to another country for service.
