UEC Prepares New AL-41ST Engine for Russian Energy Companies

Engineers at the United Engine Corporation (UEC) plan to complete tests of a prototype AL-41ST industrial engine with a design capacity of 25 MW in December 2023. This was reported by Rostec's press service.

According to the state corporation, the engine is necessary to meet the needs of companies operating in the fuel and energy sector for high-performance gas pumping equipment. The gas turbine engine line will also include a 32 MW unit. The development is being carried out by specialists from the Ufa Engine-Building Production Association (UMPO), a leader in the aviation engine sector.

According to Vladimir Artyakov, Deputy Head of Rostec, the corporation has been consistently supplying reliable equipment to the country's energy companies for many years. Against the backdrop of foreign manufacturers leaving the Russian Federation, demand for products from enterprises within the UEC has increased sharply. Artyakov emphasized that domestic developers need to replace about a quarter of the market for small and medium power turbines.

In this regard, much attention is paid to the work of UMPO specialists. It is expected that in the coming years, a wide range of gas turbine equipment will appear in Russia, including PD-14GP-1/2, AL-41ST-25/32 and NK-36ST-32.

Earlier it was reported that the UEC had begun creating a turbine for offshore production platforms. The unit will be able to run on gas, kerosene or diesel.
