In Russia, unmanned buses will replace missing drivers

They will account for at least 30% of the total number of bus drivers

The shortage of bus drivers in Russia can be overcome by switching to unmanned public transport.

There is already experience in operating unmanned taxis, and buses are next in line.

In ten to fifteen years, about a third of Russian buses will become unmanned, according to Yan Khaitseer, Vice President of the "National Automobile Union."

He noted that Russia is already in a leading position in the development of unmanned vehicles. The domestic automotive industry is already producing unmanned trucks, there are examples of unmanned taxis and unmanned agricultural machinery.

The transition to unmanned buses will remove the staffing issue. Currently, various regions are short of 30% to 50% of drivers.

And, according to Khaitseer, the number of drivers will only decrease. The problem lies in demographics, low wages and working conditions.
