KamAZ has patented a graphical solution for a new logo for the KAMAZ Chelnok project. This is reported by the Telegram channel "Autopotok".
This means that the manufacturer's serial truck lineup will soon be expanded with an unmanned cab-less electric truck "Chelnok".
The truck was designed for intra-plant transportation and closed roads, but in the future its other uses are not excluded.
"Chelnok" does not have a cab, and costs less than its counterparts with a cab, due to savings on its parts and assembly. Instead of a driver, it is enough for him to have an operator behind the computer or with a mobile phone, who will issue a task and check its execution.
The truck is fully autonomous and capable of moving around the clock. Orientation in space takes place due to the navigation system and a complex of sensory equipment: 2D and 3D lidars, ultrasonic sensors, wide-angle and telephoto cameras. They are duplicated in case of a malfunction of one of the devices.
The chassis of the truck is four-wheel drive, powered by a synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets with vector control. The maximum speed of the "smart transporter" is small for safety reasons: 40 km/h. If necessary, the truck can reverse at the same speed.
The length and width of the "Chelnok" is 8 meters and 2.55 meters respectively, and it is 4 meters high. It weighs 18 tons. Payload - up to 10 tons. Notably, loading and unloading of the "Chelnok" can occur from both sides simultaneously.
This is not the only development of the auto concern in the direction of development of unmanned transport with an eco-component. The new unmanned dump truck "Jupiter 30" with a hybrid engine will soon be sent to the quarries of the Kemerovo region.
