President Vladimir Putin announced the successful tests of the missile and plans for its production. The missile is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and is virtually invulnerable to air defense systems

Testing of the new weapon has already taken place.

The last successful test of the Burevestnik, a global-range cruise missile with a nuclear propulsion system, has been carried out.

According to the president, only formalities remain for the Burevestnik to enter mass production. Work on the Sarmat super-heavy missile has also been "virtually" completed.

The question is that we just need to finish some procedures purely administratively and bureaucratically, move on to their mass production and put them on combat duty. We will do this in the near future.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin

The head of state announced the work on the Burevestnik and other modern weapons that have no analogues on March 1, 2018, speaking with a message to the Federal Assembly. At that time, it was about new weapons for Russia, capable of ensuring a strategic balance in the world for decades to come.

In the same year, the first tests of the missile took place. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Burevestnik was designed so that existing global air defense and anti-missile defense systems are unable to detect the missile in its low flight. At the same time, the missile has a virtually unlimited range and a nuclear power plant. It is also capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
