Japan's Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura announced that The Land of the Rising Sun is tightening its export restrictions against Russia. In particular, Japan will ban the export to the Russian Federation of any cars with an engine capacity over 1.9 liters.
The measures will be announced on August 2 and will come into effect on August 9. According to this, the export to Russia of cars with an engine of more than 1900 milliliters, hybrid cars, tires for large-sized cars will be prohibited.
Therefore, Japan is bringing its export restrictions against Russia in line with the previously adopted 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union. The EU then, remember, banned the export to Russia of new and used electric cars, hybrids and cars with internal combustion engines with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters.
By the end of 2022, Japan had supplied about 200 thousand used cars to Russia, and in the first half of this year, exports increased by 32.8% compared to the same period last year.
