The Russian aviation regulator has announced that despite the sanctions, 11 foreign companies continue to fly over the territory of the Russian Federation.
«In 2023, 11 foreign airlines regularly operate flights through the airspace of Russia on transpolar routes: Air India Limited, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Cargo Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Pakistan International Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Qatar Airways Company, Qatar Executive», – Rosaviatsiya said.
Transpolar routes are the shortest international air routes connecting North America with countries in East and Southeast Asia. They pass through the North Pole, the oceanic sectors of the air traffic control centers of Murmansk and Magadan, then in the areas of Khatanga, Krasnoyarsk, Yakutsk, Blagoveshchensk.
