A few days ago, a short video appeared on the Web, which captured a large twin-engine drone of an airplane type. According to Denis Fedutinov, a leading Russian expert in the field of unmanned aviation, this drone is the Sirius, and the fact that it is in the sky indicates that the UAV has entered the flight test phase.
«The video that appeared on the network captured the flight of the new twin-engine UAV \"Sirius\", which is being developed by the Russian company \"Kronshtadt\". The development of this drone was carried out quite quickly. Obviously, Kronshtadt used the developments made on its previous unmanned system Inokhodets (factory designation Orion). It is also very likely that the heavy version inherits a number of subsystems that were originally developed for the younger model,» Fedutinov said.
However, the start of flight tests is not a guarantee of an early start of mass production: several years may pass between these phases.
Earlier it was reported that the take-off weight of the Sirius reaches two tons, the wingspan is 23 meters, the flight duration is up to 20 hours, the maximum altitude is 7 km, the cruising speed is 180 km/h.
