Border Patrol Ships "Okhotnik": How many patrol boats does the FSB of Russia have?

The Project 22460 vessel is armed with an AK-630M mount

Project 22460 "Okhotnik" border patrol ships were not created for naval battles with fleets, but for daily work on Russia's vast maritime border.

Let's find out how many such ships have been built and how they differ from conventional combat corvettes.

How many Project 22460 ships does Russia have?

Construction of the series began in the late 2000s. The lead ship, "Rubin", joined the coast guard in 2010.

In total, Russian shipyards built 14 Project 22460 patrol ships, which are distributed among the Black Sea, Baltic, Caspian, and Far Eastern directions.

The ships have a displacement of about 700 tons, a length of 62.5 meters, and are capable of speeds up to 30 knots, which is approximately 55 km/h.

The cruising range reaches 3500 nautical miles, and autonomy is up to 30 days.

What are the "Okhotniks" armed with?

The main weapon of the project is the AK-630M 30mm automatic artillery mount, capable of firing up to 5000 rounds per minute.

The ship also carries heavy machine guns and is capable of taking high-speed inspection boats on board to intercept intruders.

Initially, the project envisioned the possibility of installing anti-ship missiles and more serious weaponry, but the serial FSB ships received a configuration specifically for border service.

Capable of accommodating even a helicopter

The main feature of the "Okhotnik" is the presence of a helipad and hangar for a Ka-226 helicopter or drones, despite its relatively small displacement. For a ship only 62 meters long, this is a rare solution.

In fact, the "Okhotnik" project combines the capabilities of a classic border patrol ship, a high-speed interceptor, and a small helicopter platform.
