Russia is discussing the possibility of deploying modern missile systems in Venezuela, including the "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missiles and the "Kalibr-K" cruise missiles. These systems are capable of significantly changing the balance of power in the Caribbean region.
The "Oreshnik" missile is a mobile ballistic system with a range of up to 5,000 km and a flight speed of up to Mach 10. It can carry several warheads and use rapid launch tactics followed by relocation, which reduces the likelihood of its detection and destruction. Such weaponry requires potential adversaries to strengthen missile defense and intelligence systems in the region.
The "Kalibr-K" cruise missiles can be deployed on mobile platforms — trucks, trains, or civilian ships. They fly at low altitudes, which makes their detection and interception difficult. These characteristics increase the effectiveness of the systems in coastal and marine areas.
At the same time, there is an increase in military activity in the Caribbean basin: an increase in the number of patrol operations, aviation flights, and ships with missile defense systems. In response, some countries in the region have announced an increase in combat readiness.
Experts say that the creation and implementation of such systems will change the approach to security in the Western Hemisphere. At the same time, the main attention is paid to strategic deterrence, operational response, and the risks of proliferation of modern technologies.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the reactors of "Burevestnik" and "Poseidon" can be used for peaceful purposes.
