At a recent meeting in Tajikistan, the Russian leader announced the imminent appearance of Russia's latest development in the field of weaponry. He noted that work on the advanced weapons system is nearing completion, and the public will soon be informed about the novelty, which has already been mentioned.
Most likely, it is about the completion of the development of the "Burevestnik" cruise missile, equipped with a nuclear power plant. This year, there have been signs of preparation for the next tests: the closure of certain areas in the Novaya Zemlya region, increased activity of transport aviation, as well as unofficial data coming from sources related to the defense industry. However, there has been no official confirmation of this information.
At the same time, an alternative scenario cannot be ruled out. Against the backdrop of the United States of America's withdrawal from the INF Treaty, Russia may well resume the development of a ground-based version of the "Caliber" missile, tentatively named "Relief". Such a step would be a perfectly expected response to the intensification of American missile activity in Europe and Asia.
Information about the possibility of creating such a complex was announced several years ago. At the same time, it was emphasized that the process of establishing production would not take much time, since adapting launchers to a mobile chassis is a less laborious task than creating a sea-based carrier. The estimated range of the missile in the ground version should be about 2.6 thousand kilometers.
As noted earlier, Russia became the first country in the world to develop weapons powered by nuclear energy.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first prototype of the modernized Yak-130M aircraft was sent for ground and flight tests.
