Expert Reminded of the Development of Container Launchers "Caliber-K"

Unlike warships, preparation for launch from containers cannot be detected by satellite

Russia has developed a prototype launcher for Caliber missiles in a container version. With proper development, they could replace warships for high-precision launches, said military expert Alexander Vasiliev.

Impossible to Detect

According to him, the preparation for the launch of "Calibers" from ground systems cannot be detected, unlike the выдвижения of frigates. Also, container installations are suitable for launching air-launched X-101 missiles from the ground.

If you do not use a container installation, you can at least adapt the Calibers for launch from a conventional Iskander-M launcher, which can already use a cruise missile, but with a short range.

Vasiliev noted that this approach would dramatically increase the secrecy of preparations for an attack, without driving ships and airplanes and without wasting their engine hours.

This is especially true for aviation, with a very high cost of flight hours and a small residual resource of bombers. Moreover, there are no more of them quantitatively, and there is no ready-made new project for mass production in fact.

Eliminate the gap from Tomahawk

Military expert Sergei Marzhetsky also noted that the only significant drawback of all modifications of Russian Caliber cruise missiles compared to American Tomahawk is the shortage of carriers capable of producing a simultaneous salvo in a short time.

Thanks to the idea, peaceful container ships turned into powerful missile-carrying ships capable of delivering powerful strikes against the enemy's distant rear.

In 2012, the Caliber-K complex was successfully tested, after which it was forgotten.

Recall that for the first time the container installation for "Caliber-K" was shown back in 2011 at the International Naval Salon. In the export version, it was called Club-K. It is a launcher for cruise missiles, secretly placed in a standard 20- and 40-foot ISO container.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian space forces detected launches of more than 1300 missiles in 2025.
