Пригрозили США «сверхзвуковой смертью»: Венесуэла показала новейшие российские истребители Су-30МК2, вооруженные ракетами Х-31

Eurasian Times: Similar Missiles Equip Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI

Venezuela has deployed the latest Su-30MK2 multirole fighters, armed with Kh-31 missiles, in the "Sovereign Caribbean 200" exercises in response to the appearance of US Navy ships in the Caribbean Sea, Eurasian Times reports.

Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino stated that the military will practice tactics in the air, at sea, and on land. The exercises will involve 12 warships of various classes and types, 22 aircraft, and about 20 boats.

Venezuela purchased the Su-30MK2 from Russia in the early 2000s after the US imposed an embargo on the supply of weapons and spare parts for the F-16. Sources claim that Caracas received about 12 aircraft, which were delivered from 2007 to 2008.

Currently, the Venezuelan Air Force likely operates 21 Su-30MK2s. The exact number of aircraft is unknown. According to some sources, at least 5 Su-30MK2s are in storage due to maintenance issues.

Su-30MK2 fighters armed with Kh-31 missiles are a deadly combination. The Kh-31P missile with a passive radar homing head is called "hypersonic death" for its speed and destructive capabilities.

These munitions are also in service with India. The carrier is the Su-30MKI fighter. The Kh-31 and its modifications were purchased from Russia back in 2001. In the summer of 2019, it was reported that India had purchased a new batch of missiles.
