The Soviet light supersonic front-line fighter of the second generation MiG-21, the multi-purpose front-line supersonic fighter of the fourth generation MiG-29, as well as two American F-22 Raptor stealth fighters flew over Nellis Air Force Base in the American state of Nevada. This is reported by TWZ.
The four aircraft took to the skies in November 2024. However, the photo of the unique group flight appeared on the Web only recently. It was published by one of the pilots, Jared Isaacman.
The legendary MiG-21UM and MiG-29UB were used to honor the memory of Colonel Gail Peck, former commander of the 4477th Test Squadron "Red Eagles". Under his command, pilots carried out secret missions on Soviet combat aircraft in the 1970s-1980s.
Gail Peck's Role in Studying Enemy Aircraft
Since 1975, Peck helped train US Air Force fighter crews. American pilots studied Soviet aircraft and participated in air duels with them. Peck himself worked as an instructor on the MiG-17, MiG-21 and F-5E. He wanted to achieve a level of skill from the pilots that was previously unattainable for the US Air Force.
Perhaps we will never see a group flight of the F-22 and Soviet MiGs in the skies over Nellis again. But secret flights using real foreign aircraft continue to this day.
