Eurasian Times: Representatives of the Malaysian Air Force Studied the Su-57 at Air Shows in China and India

The first foreign customer of the Russian Su-57E fighter jet will begin operating it in 2025. This could be Algeria or Malaysia, suggests Sakshi Tiwari, author of the Eurasian Times.

Algerian media speculated that the North African country was the first customer of the Su-57E. However, neither Russia nor the Algerian government has acknowledged such a deal.

Recently, the Su-57E has been linked to Malaysia's Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA) program. The Russian fighter could update its aging fleet of aircraft and enhance its air power.

Representatives of the Malaysian Air Force had previously studied the Su-57 at international air shows in China and India. Malaysian media wrote about the possibility of a deal.

In March 2025, information emerged about Malaysia's desire to acquire 18 fifth-generation fighters. The authorities of the Asian state were considering purchasing the Russian Su-57 or the South Korean KF-21.

Currently, Russian media are actively promoting the Su-57 as a suitable aircraft for India.
