Водителям на заметку: что категорически нельзя делать на новом авто до конца обкатки

To ensure all mechanisms work smoothly and last a long time, a new car needs to be operated in a special mode up to 5000 km on the odometer

During the break-in period, a new car requires special attention and care. This is necessary to ensure that all its mechanisms work smoothly and last a long time, said Roman Timashov, Director of After-Sales Service at Avtodom Altufyevo.

Up to 5000 km, the car should be operated in a gentle mode. Any mating parts of the mechanism need to be lapped and run-in. Some car owners forget about this and subject the engine, transmission, braking system and other components to increased loads.

During operation, metal particles can accumulate in the oil, the specialist explained. To remove them, it is necessary to replace the lubricating material at a mileage of 2000 to 3000 kilometers. That is why official dealerships offer the so-called "zero" maintenance.

When breaking in a car, it should be handled with care, avoiding sudden starts, maneuvers and braking. The engine should not be left running at idle for a long time, as in this mode the oil supply to the lubrication system is relatively small, and the power unit may begin to experience oil starvation.
Roman Timashov, Director of After-Sales Service at Avtodom Altufyevo

Engine idling should only be used for warm-up for no more than 2–3 minutes, Timashov emphasized. In the optimal mode, it is recommended to maintain the engine speed at the level of 2000 to 3000 rpm. For a new engine, you should also adhere to a speed range of 80 to 120 km/h.

Until the end of the break-in period, it is strongly not recommended to accelerate and brake sharply, as well as to allow wheel slippage.

Also, you should not overload a new car, for example, by transporting heavy loads or a large number of passengers. This increases the load on the engine and suspension.

It is very important to change the oil and other technical fluids in a timely manner to prevent wear of engine and transmission parts. While driving, you should not ignore the indicator signals on the dashboard, the specialist added. If unusual sounds, vibrations or other signs of malfunction appear, you need to contact a service center to identify and solve the problem.
