Old tanks found an unexpected use: they will still serve the soldiers

Military experts suggested converting old tanks into heavy armored personnel carriers

One of the new solutions for the safe and fast transportation of soldiers on the front line may be the conversion of old tanks into armored personnel carriers (APCs). Experts from the Telegram channel "Military Informant" explained the feasibility of this step.

They noted that in modern conditions, military equipment quickly becomes obsolete. Therefore, urgent mass projects should not be too expensive, so that it is not a pity to decommission and replace it when it quickly becomes obsolete.

A former tank without a standard turret with an installed anti-drone "king-mangal", dynamic protection blocks and additional armor plates has another advantage on the battlefield.  It becomes better protected not only from cumulative ammunition and FPV drones, but also from cluster artillery ammunition attacking from above with small submunitions. And therefore, it will also protect the infantry well from them while it is inside.

In addition, crew training programs do not require development from scratch. It is enough to adapt the old ones for tankers, the experts clarified. The production of such equipment is easy to scale, which means that volumes can be quickly increased.

Thus, the creation and mass production of heavy APCs based on the conversion of obsolete tanks looks like the best solution of those available "here and now".
