The way to improve the "Hyacinth-S" self-propelled gun to impose counter-battery combat on the Western Paladin, Caesar and Archer is named

Analyst Damantsev called for equipping the "Hyacinth-S" with the latest "Krasnopol-D" shells with a firing range of up to 47 km

The Hyacinth-S self-propelled artillery gun (SPG) is one of the most effective, easy-to-maintain and operate 152-mm guns in the Russian army. However, the self-propelled gun needs to be equipped with long-range Krasnopol-D guided munitions to effectively counter Western means of destruction, said military expert Yevgeny Damantsev.

Without new Krasnopol-D shells with a range of 45-47 km and the development of even more modern active-rocket guided shells with a range of up to 60 km, the Hyacinth-S will be inferior to the M109A6 Paladin, Caesar and Archer self-propelled guns with long-range shells such as VLAP and M982 Block II Excalibur.

The expert recalled that the ballistics of the 2A37 Hyacinth-S rifled gun provides 3OF30 rocket-assisted projectiles with a range of about 33.1 km, 3OF39 and Krasnopol-M projectiles with a range of 20 and 25 km, respectively.

Characteristics of the Krasnopol-D projectile:

  • Charge weight - 9 kg
  • Warhead type - high-explosive fragmentation
  • Target adjustment - Malachite complex, Orlan-10 drone, satellite
  • Navigation module - laser INS, GPS receiver for GLONASS correction
